Twitter Benefits: Covert Research

ID-10082678Two years ago I was forced to learn Twitter only because I wanted to be part of the party.

Well, of course I’ve learned Twitter and love it now. If you’re still new to Twitter, here are some ways that you can use it that you may not have thought of.

While I was doing virtual assistant work for a client, I was having trouble with a specific CRM’s (Customer Relationship Management) website.  I logged onto Twitter, searched the name of the company in Twitter’s search box, and found a few tweets that the site was temporarily down. Good to know.

My son was off at a local Beaver’s baseball game (college team) and since he was with another family, he didn’t know when he’d be home that night . So I found the team’s Twitter handle @Beaver_baseball and was able to find out what inning it was by watching the team’s tweets. It put a mother’s heart to rest.

When I’ve had a few potential clients contact me for virtual assistant work, I can check out their LinkedIn accounts, website and their tweets. LinkedIn and a website are great ways to find information about the person and their business. However, tweets can sometimes be spontaneous and more relaxed so it gives you a different kind of information.

Have you ever used Twitter to gain more information on a business or person?
